IL Freedom Caucus files Articles of Impeachment against Governor J.B. Pritzker for inciting political violence
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Freedom Caucus announced on Sept. 15 the filing of House Resolution 466, bringing forward Articles of Impeachment against Governor JB Pritzker.
The resolution cites multiple instances where Governor Pritzker has failed to restrain his vile hatred for those who disagree with him politically. Instead of conducting himself with the dignity required of the state’s highest office, Governor Pritzker has repeatedly compared his political opponents to Nazis and gone so far as to call for violence against them. Last week, moments after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, Pritzker went so far as to blame President Trump and January 6, 2021 for his murder.
“The Governor has crossed a dangerous line,” the Illinois Freedom Caucus said in a joint statement. “Free speech and political debate are cornerstones of our Republic but inciting violence and reckless rhetoric that places people in danger cannot be ignored. Governor Pritzker has openly called for anyone who disagrees with him to ‘not know a moment of peace.’ His directive has cost people their lives.”
Members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are calling on colleagues from both sides of the aisle to put partisanship aside and stand against hate, intimidation, and political violence. The caucus is inviting co-sponsors from all political backgrounds on this resolution.
The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of State Representatives Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro), chairman; Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), vice-chairman; Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich); Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville); Jed Davis (R-Newark); David Friess (R-Red Bud) and State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport). The members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are members of the General Assembly who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes and accountability, and integrity in government.
