Triad High School Trap Teams celebrate strong season

By Justin Ramert

The Triad High School trap teams wrapped up another successful season at the Edwardsville Gun Club, the oldest continuously operating gun club in the United States. Last year, the Gold Rush team finished second in the spring league shoot-off but the departure of eight seniors—including last year’s top male overall shooter and the team’s top female shooter—led many people to expect a rebuilding year.

Instead, Triad’s depth showed through across all six teams, with three competing in the upper Chippers Division and three in the lower Dusters Division. The Gold Rush team earned third place in the Chippers Division, while the Red Storm team claimed third place in the Dusters Division, marking strong finishes in both levels of competition.

Individual performances added even more reason to celebrate. Camden Geiler, Triad’s top male shooter, earned the title of top male overall in the league and Katelyn Frank finished as Triad’s top female shooter, capping a strong second season. Their success highlights the promise and competitive spirit of Triad’s next wave of shooters.

“This season showed that our younger athletes are ready to continue the tradition of excellence set by last year’s seniors,” said Head Coach Bill Lawrence. “We’re proud of what they accomplished.”

The league includes four high school programs—the Collinsville Kahoks, Edwardsville Tigers, Metro East Lutheran Knights and Triad High School—all competing at the historic Edwardsville Gun Club.
