Triad Tennis battles through weather at Edwardsville Spring Invite

Despite a few schools dropping out due to inclement weather, Triad Tennis still hosted their portion of the Edwardsville Spring Invite as an exhibition last week on Friday, April 3. They still got two matches in against Normal Community and John Burroughs at the varsity level while the junior varsity squad took on Herrin.
Match 1 vs. Normal Community
The Knights got their day started with a victory against the Ironmen by a match score of 5-4.
Joe Cass and Jackson Naylor won at the top doubles spot, while Owen Litteken pulled out two victories in singles.
Match 2 vs. John Burroughs
Cass and Naylor won again at the top doubles spot by a match score of 8-4.
Tate Moore and Litteken won their doubles match in the second flight in a 9-8 tiebreaker, coming back from being down 5-3 in the opening sets.
Moore also won at the top singles spot and Cass picked up a victory in the number two singles flight.
Match 3 (JV) vs. Herrin
Triad’s junior varsity squad took on Herrin’s varsity team at an off-site match during varsity’s matchup with John Burroughs last Friday. The Knights also took home a team victory by a match score of 6-3.
Wins from Mason Moss, Ayden Mills, Jimmy Burton, Tyler Brokering and Gabe Frazier helped earn the victory over the Tigers.
Coming up…
Triad’s next home match will be this Friday, April 10 when they take on Batavia High School in a dual scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
