Troy’s water, sewer rates to rise May 1

Editor • Troy’s water and sewer rates are slated to go up on May 1, regardless of which sewer treatment plant option the city council chooses later in May. The city has been raising these rates since May 2023.
The new in-city water rates will be: $18.61 for the first 2,000 gallons used followed by a calculated rate per 1,000 of 0.00698. Gross users will see a calculated rate per 1,000 gallons over 11,000 gallons of 0.00543. The old rates were $17.73, 0.00665 and 0.00517, respectively.
Those who are on the out-of-city water will see new rates of $31.02 for the first 2,000 gallons with a calculated rate per 1,000 of 0.01124. Heavy users will see a calculated rate per 1,000 gallons over 11,000 gallons of 0.00737. The former rates were $29.55, 0.01071 and 0.00702, respectively.
On the sewer rate side, the new rates are $15.77 for the first 2,000 gallons, in-city. The calculated rate per 1,000 will be 0.00717. The old rates were $14.60 and 0.00664, respectively.
The out-of-city rate for the first 2,000 gallons will be $27.65 with the calculated rate per 2,000 gallons, 0.01355. The former rates were $25.60 and 0.01254, respectively.
