If you’ve driven on Route 143 in Highland past the Walmart, Scott Credit Union or the Knights of Columbus Hall since Mother’s Day, you’ve seen the start of some work along the north side of the highway. What is it? Site preparation for Highland’s newest grocery store, Aldi. Trees came down on May 11 and demolition of the two, single-family homes has begun. The store’s footprint, including a parking lot, will encompass the former home sites, an agricultural in the back and a lot between one home and the west side of Scott Credit Union. Former residents at one house spent weeks removing items from the brick structure prior to this week – Charles Bolinger, Editor
