First concrete evidence of Meijer store in Glen Carbon’s Orchard Town Center

In the first significant move visible to most passers-by, outer walls have risen at the Meijer site that will be the anchor of Glen Carbon’s Orchard Town Center. This will be the retailer’s first store in southern Illinois – the nearest Meijers are in Springfield, Normal and Champaign-Urbana. Dick’s Sporting Goods is the junior anchor while several smaller, satellite shops are planned, such as the second location for Kokuu Ramen and Sushi Bar, a Jet Set Pilates and a Royal Banks of Illinois branch plus 12 outlots. The occupied outlots include Plaza Tire, Club Car Wash, Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express and Dutch Bros. A Heartland Dental location is currently under construction next to Olive Garden and a LongHorn Steakhouse is coming. These photos were taken on May 10, 2026.
