In-state warrants give Aurora man trouble in Troy

Results revealed it had valid registration but a secondary reply came back to him a few moments later – law enforcement agencies data system (LEADS) came back with an extradition warrant for Pamela S. Brown of Aurora for contempt of court in Kane County, near Chicago.
In his official field incident report, Elliott said due to his vehicle’s position relative to the black Mariner’s and the delayed LEADS response, he couldn’t see who drove the SUV. He activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the small Mercury at Troy-O’Fallon Road and Country Lane.
The driver, a white male, was later identified as Michael T. Brown of Aurora. Ofc. Elliott made contact with him and advised him the reason for the stop. Michael said Pamela is his wife and he was on his way to visiting his parents in Nashville, Illinois. He voluntarily provided Elliott with his Illinois Driver’s License.
He ran another computer records check, this time on Michael, which returned an active warrant for him, same offense and same county as Pamela’s.
At that point, Troy Police Ofc. Erik Mix arrived on scene.
Elliott returned to the Mariner’s driver’s door and requested Michael turn off the engine and exit, which he did. Elliott then advised Michael he was being detained, placed his wrists behind his back and cuffed him. He was then searched and escorted to the rear of Elliott’s patrol vehicle and secured in the rear seat.
He was advised of his Miranda Rights, to which he stated he understood and he was willing to speak with Elliott. Michael stated that he believed his warrant may have to do with an ongoing ordinance issue in Aurora but he had no additional knowledge.
Troy Police Dispatch confirmed the Kane County warrant was active. Michael was taken to the Troy Police Station, where he was booked per department policy.
His father, Ronald Brown, later responded and posted Michael’s $250 cash bond and $200 tow release fee. Michael has a court date of Aug. 18 at 1:30 p.m., received a copy and was released.
