Glen Carbo opens its police department lobby as cooling shelter until July 2

The National Weather Service has announced a heat advisory for the Glen Carbon area from Monday June 29 until 12 a.m. on July 2, with heat index values as high as 110 degrees.
Therefore, the Village of Glen Carbon has made a declaration that the Glen Carbon Police Department lobby, located at 149 N Main Street, will be available as a Cooling Shelter for Glen Carbon residents for the length of the heat advisory.
The Glen Carbon Police Department encourages citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency!
