Tennis takes on Southern Illinois Duals

TROY — Last week, Triad girls tennis competed in part of the action of the Southern Illinois Duals. The two-day event, which was hosted by Belleville East and Edwardsville, featured ten teams.

The Lady Knights scored an 8-1 victory over Belleville West as part of the event.

In Triad’s win over the Maroons, Averi Moore and Andie Green teamed up to win atop the doubles action. Green also turned in a wub at the top singles slot.

London Looby, Macee Shemwell, Kacey Ruger and Katie Watts also contributed wins to Triad’s efforts.

The Lady Knights also tangled with the Marion Wildcats in Southern Illinois Duals play. Triad won their matchup in a 6-0 decision

Led by Green in the top spot, the victors swept singles play with additional wins from Hailey D’Aunoy and Ruger. 

Triad won all three doubles matches with a number one from Hailey D’Aunoy and Watts. In addition, Anna D’Aunoy, Looby, Lila Gallia and Shemwell added partnered wins.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Knights battled more in Centralia in quad action. There, Triad scored 5-0 wins against Centralia and Greenville, plus a weather-shortened 4-0 victory over Collinsville.

The core of Anna D’Aunoy, Hailey D’Aunoy, Green, Looby, Moore, Ruger and Shemwell competed in all three matches and finished the day unbeaten.
